    Depending on the type of the loan request of supporting documents to be presented by applicants include.

    • Legal documents licenses, Article and memorandum of association, principal registration certificate etc.)

    • It is an interest bearing account
    • Minimum balance to open an account is birr.50.-
    • There is no maximum balance required
    • Interest is calculated on the minimum balance of each month and paid in June and December half yearly
    • Individuals organizations, Financial institutions, Associations and clubs etc. can open and use this account

    • Minimum balance to open an accounts is birr.50.-

    Eligibility criteria


    • A customer who demands to open a non-interest bearing deposit account.
    • Holder of valid identification card /s/ and /or passport two passport size photographs.

  7. What is ATM? And what are the criteria to open this account? What are the steps to follow in operating?

  8. Ans: ATM is Automatic Teller Machine installed or approved by the bank within Ethiopia at and of its branches or office or and other places by means of which a card holder can initiate or effect money withdrawals from, or deposits to his account, or transfers balance between his account


    • An ATM card slot is found above or below a flashing light
    • Position your card facing the CBE logo to the top right side and the black strip to a down right side
    • Insert your card
    • ATM requests you to choose the type of language you want to operate it with
    • The ATM is programmed to operate in English language
    • Select English by pressing a button in your left side, next to English
    • Make sure you head a beep sound every time you press a button on the machine
    • ATM now asks you to insert your personal identification number /PIN/
    • Press the number keys on the machine
    • Until your PIN is verified the machine will request you to wait
    • ATM now welcomes you and displays fast cash i.e.Birr.100,200,300, etc and others options
    • Press the button next to one of the fast cash option for quick withdrawal
    • Press the button next to others option to display

    • This option allows you to insert your choice of amount of cash within your daily limit of cash Birr 3,000.- The amount you insert must be a multiple of 5.- This is because the minimum denomination offered by the machine in Birr 5.-
    • Insert your choice using number keys and press enter
    • ATM will return your card and you are expected to take your card immediately. If not, you will hear a warning noise and the machine will then capture your card and give you card capture receipt through a paper slot
    • After you remove the card ATM then will forward the cash through the cash slot and a withdrawal receipt afterwards

    Mini-statement


    • Mini-statement lists out the last 10 transactions of your account
    • Press the button next to mini-statement ATM the prints and ejects a small sized statement through the paper slot

    Balance statement

    • The balance enquiry will inform you the last balance of your account
    • Press the button next to the balance enquiry option and you will get your balance on a piece of paper from the paper slot

    PIN change

    • The PIN option lets you change your PIN any time want
    • Press the button next to this option. The insert a four-digit number. Next press enter from the number keys

    Others


    • The others option allows, an ATM cardholder with more than one account to transfer money from one account to the other
    • Press the button next to this option. Then follow the steps displayed on the screen
    • After you complete one of the activities in number 5, ATM will ask you if you want to revert to other services
    • Press the button next to a yes option to go back to other options or
    • Press the button to a no option to conclude your current operation
    • Then ATM will ask you whether you want a receipt for the transaction you completed just now
    • Press the button next to a yes option if you want a receipt or
    • Press the button next to a no option if you do not need a receipt
    • ATM will now return your card.
    • Receive your card immediately.

    Things you should know


    • ATM gives you three minutes to finalize your transaction. If you otherwise linger on each of the above steps, the machine will consider you as an intruder and will capture your card.
    • If you your PIN go to the branch you registered for the service and ask for help.
    • Inserting wrong PIN will result in capture of your card. ATM will give you card capture receipt. You need therefore, to go inside the branch, present the receipt to get your card back.
    • If you lose your ATM card, call 251-1564449 or 251-1249200 telephones immediately and report the loss. Then you must present yourself physically at the branch to fill in the formality forms.
    • While using ATM during working hours, if you face any problem go into the branch and ask for the responsible personnel for help.

  9. How do you calculate interest on saving account?
  10. Ans: Every month interst is calculated on the minimum balance of a saving account at the prevailing interest rate set by the Bank. The accrued interest will be credited to the saving account every six months on December 1st and June 1st


  11. How do you calculate tax on saving interest income?
  12. Ans- The Bank is obliged to calculate income tax and pay to Federal Inland Revenue every time for any Interest income. At present it 5% of the interest income that will be deducted from the interest income and will be credited to Inland Revenue Account.
    Example: Let Interest Income = 500.00
    Income tax = 500.00 X .05 = 25.00 Birr
