16, 2012- The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia held half-year performance review
meeting here at the UN-ECA Conference Center from January 12 to January 14,
In his opening remark,
Ato Bekalu Zeleke, President of the CBE, noted that the business targets for
the period under review were stretch and in tune with the country's five-year
Growth and Transformation Plan.
The meeting deliberated
in depth on head office organs and districts performances presented by the
Office of Strategy Management.
According to the
performance report, the bank was able to accomplish most targets set for the
Districts that best
performed in relation to private deposit mobilization shared their best practices
with other districts with a view to scaling up best practices.
The meeting pinpointed
strengths/opportunities and weaknesses/challenges and discussed the way forward.
Speaking on the
occasion, H.E. Ato Bereket Simon, Government Communication Affairs Office Head
with ministerial portfolio and Chairperson of CBE Board of Directors,
emphasized the significance of domestic saving to ensure the sustainability of
the country's economic growth.
He urged the management
and the staff to pay attention to service excellence alongside deposit mobilization
as the former positively impacts the latter.
He also pledged the
board's support to bolster the deposit mobilization drive.
